Cala S’Almunia in Mallorca

Cala s'almunia in Mallorca

Less known than its neighbour Caló des Moró, Cala S’Almunia is a wonderful cove in Mallorca. Thanks to its position, protected with rocks, swimming is almost always possible. Also, it’s much less packed than the other.

We came here the same day we went to the other beach after the crowds began to arrive. Since it’s 5 minutes from Caló des Moró, you can park for one cove and choose between them or just stay in one. The map below shows this cove on the left. From the point B it is just 1 minute going down some stairs.

Cala S’Almunia: a cove for everybody

In our opinion, Cala S’Almunia can be for everybody. When we went, there was a bit of everything: families, couples and groups of friends. For kids, the waters are calm and there are rocks and hills where you can jump from.

The cove has no sand but it has definitely more space than Calo des Moro, with enough space to hold families in the shade or flat rocks to put to towels.

What to bring to Cala S’Almunia

There are not bars, WC or any services there, so bring your own food and water. Remember as in all the beaches in the world to keep everything clean, for other people and for the nature. Another fundamental thing are the water shoes. Since everything is rocky you’ll need them to go to the water. Also, I don’t know if bringing and umbrella is a good option here…the images speak better for themselves.

Cala s'almunia next to calo des moro

We spent a couple of hours here after visiting Caló des Moró, and before heading to Cala Llombards. We won’t make a post of that one, but we’ll say that the beach is really really nice, but also tremendously packed. Perhaps in low season it is much more enjoyable.
